AILIM felt art studio
Katrien Perquy
Felting, natural dyeing and
ecoprinting workshop
Atelier Ailim on location:
Farm ‘De Zaaier’ – Ruddervoorde
(Bruges, Belgium)
28th and 29th September 2013
Natural dyeing and ecoprinting are miraculous ways of
producing colours and prints.
Day 1
Natural dyeing
A dyeing pot will be ready. We can start dyeing wool and
silk immediately.
A brief explanation of the process of mordanting, dyeing and
the various possibilities. Afterwards, we will gather plants in the
neighbourhood and prepare new dyeing pots.
Felting bowls
The bowl is an archetypical shape that we have always
applied as a utensil. It is a decorative shape that tells stories, often with a
symbolic value. It encloses and offers. Open or closed. Inside and outside.
Light and dark.
The bowls can be naturally dyed or ecoprinted.
Day 2
Felting and ecoprinting
Before noon there will be time to finish felting the bowls
or simple forms to be printed. There will be a dyeing pot for silk and for wool
and other fabrics.
Location: Farm ‘De Zaaier” – Diederik Steyaert, Korte
Akkerstraat 2, 8020 Ruddervoorde Belgium (www.zaaier.be)
